Let's welcome Loni Ree
Does writing energize or exhaust you?
This really depends on when and what I’m writing. If I plan ahead and have plenty of time to write my books then I get excited and energized by my work. On the other hand, if I’m running behind and rushed, it exhausts and overwhelms me. For this reason, I usually plan and write books months before their planned release so I have time for unexpected issues. If everything comes together and I can release it early, then that’s even better. Also, if the story gets away from me that tends to wear me out and I will walk away from it and write another book until I figure out how to get the first one back on track. I’ve done that a few times and it has led to some of my best books.
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
Right now, I have two unfinished books. I broke my shoulder in October and I was working on a book that was way different from my usual books called Falling for the Imposter. I had to push the release of this book back in order to get my holiday books released but I do plan on releasing it sometime in 2020. The other unfinished book I have is Fighting His Forever, both are books that I’ve walked away from until I figure out how I want the stories to proceed. I have beautiful covers and lots of ideas so I will get them done but not immediately.
How do you select the names of your characters?
I have a great baby name book. After I choose the names I’m using in my book, I highlight them and write the name of my new book next to them and whether they are main characters or secondary characters.
What is your favorite childhood book?
I loved the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary.
What are you reading right now?
I wish I had time to read right now. I have a Kindle full of books and I’m hoping to read them soon but I have to catch up on my work first.
What author do you admire most in the Insta-Love genre?
There are way too many authors for me to name just one.
What would you say is your most interesting writing “quirk?”
I put something on the television but mute it so the noise doesn’t distract me. I hate to feel like I’m alone but I’m easily distracted.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
What comes first for you? The plot or the characters?
The plot definitely
